Ghana’s prolific dancehall giant Charles Nii Armah Mensah known publicly as Shatta Wale in an interview with D.J Young Chow of Hot 97Fm in America yakked about how his songs goes well in the markets of Ghana And Across the Globe.
To him, the connection he has with his fans inspires him to bring out good songs and if it wasn’t for his fans he wouldn’t have been where he is right now. He believes it is his fans who always give him the drive or motivation to create certain songs. “People are still wondering why Shatta Wale is still creating hit songs and I tell them ‘yoo’ it’s because I’m with the people, I listen to them, know what they want and I just do it for them’. He revealed.
“One thing that I realized was that I couldn’t reach to just one sect of people, I wanted to cut across all over Ghana so I sat down and told myself that; we have some amounts of languages in Ghana like Hausa, Ewe, Twi, Ga and a lot so I told myself ‘yoo’ I love to do dancehall so why don’t I mix the languages with patois that’s maybe if I do one line of patois, I do two lines of twi and that’s how come everybody is loving Shatta Wale because everybody feels I’m thinking about them like when I’m writing songs I think of the far side in the Northern part of Ghana, the Westside in Ghana, the Eastern and that’s how come I think my songs are circulating in Ghana and people think that’s great”. He said.
