Ghana Fusion Band makes nation proud at Astana Expo

The Ghana Fusion Band made the nation proud with a captivating musical drama on the country’s National Day at the ongoing 2017 Astana Expo in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

The Astana Expo started on June 10 and will end on September 9. Over 110 countries are participating. Expositions such as this, which are comparable to big-time international events like the Olympic Games, are held every three or four years in a host country under the auspices of the Bureau of International Expositions.

The Ghana Fusion Band included crack musicians like Philip Acquah (electric bass), Opoku Mensah (keyboards), Dominic Quachie (guitar) and a team of magnificent actors and dancers. They unfurled their creative capabilities through the musical drama which was a thrilling blend of African pop music with Ghanaian traditional dances and narrations.

Theme for the Astana Expo is: ‘Future Energy’ and the Ghanaian performers put up a compelling story about a people whose quest for the comforts of life could not be daunted by the limitations of unsustainable energy and power supply.

The musical drama, written, produced and directed by Mr Gerald Nyarko-Mensah, was titled ‘Wheels.’ It succinctly portrayed the need to keep the wheels of industry in continuous motion to provide wealth and comfort today while protecting the interests of future generations.

Many in the audience described the Ghanaian performance as one of the most enthralling National Day performances at the Expo as it clearly projected the energy situation in the country today and ways to tap into renewable sources through innovative technology.

Among the audience at the event were representatives from Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and officials from some key agencies in the energy, trade and industry sectors.

The Ghanaian delegation, which also participated in a business forum on the nation’s energy sector, was led by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Carlos Ahenkorah.

Over five million visitors are expected to visit the Astana Expo before it closes. The next Expo is scheduled to come off in Dubai in 2020.
